I think Mr Obama will lead us out of the fog, and into the light.
I did not think that the British Fox Hunt, The Hunt of Kings, was alive in the Land of the Free.
It is refreshing to hear that you were siding with the fox CRC. My dog went after a fox once. ONCE. They are crafty little creatures.
Be well,
You have something cooking under your foxskin hat? I kind of get this Tom Green feel where the next video we see of you you will be you running through the woods as the dogs chase you laughing hysterically.
No, foxhunting isn’t just an obsolete British tradition, although the sport did originate in Great Britain. But when the colonists came over here to escape the tyrannies of Bad King George, foxhunting was one of the old country traditions they just couldn’t do without. It’s been going strong on this side of the pond since 1650, when Colonel Robert Brooke brought hounds to Maryland from England. In fact, George Washington (father of our country, the guy on the dollar bill) was an avid foxhunter after he outgrew cutting down cherry trees.

CRC, sorry to say, I am not into fox hunts. We have a den of foxes by our home, and they’re very timid creatures. This reminds me of the Planet of The Apes, only thing: the humans became the foxes, apes shot and dragged human bodies, if they were lucky, they got tossed into cages. Oh well, to each his own. No disrespect. My heart your way.
Beautiful to see Elyse. She’s one foxy looking lady.
Special hello to Barn, Cali and Anna. Have a blessed week to all.
They don’t actually chase a fox in this particular hunt. They drag a scented sock before hand, but make it fun so the hounds and horses have to go through rough terrain, etc. However, there are still hunts in America in which they do go after foxes and coyotes. It’s their way to keep the varmints away from the chickens. I did like the way these dedicated horse men and horse women kept their tradition alive. Also, they knew more about the fox than I did. The respect for the fox ran deep. I judge no one, but always try to get to the root of the matter.
“Hey Barn!” “Would you like a cup of hot Boston Tea,” “and some crumpets or scrones, a bit hard but we can dip them in the hot tea.” “We can have a tea party!” “Cheerio!”
I hear you CRC. I do respect them for keeping their tradition alive. Maybe they’ll come out with robotic foxes, then the foxes and their tradition will remain alive forever.
I have a very large dog, foxes head for the hills when they see her. Chickens, if we were to have-em, are safe to roost.
I don’t know why, but after reading your line, “It’s their way to keep the varmints away from the chickens,” the words “Urban Chickens” came to mind. I may save that for a future movie title.
Thanks again for being non-judgmental, especially since nobody likes to get pecked to death.
Chiming in on Obama…I have a renewed hope for our country. Obama will bring science, intelligence, reason, and diplomacy back to the white house. He is thoughtful and intelligent and he will expect the same from those around him. It is time we re-establish mutual respect with our fellow nations on this tiny planet of ours.
I’m with ya Anna! But I must insist that we dress like Native Americans of old and any tea left over we pour into the Boston Harbor.
WOAH! De Jevu!
Be well,
Well Barn, that won’t be hard for me to dress like a Native American because I look like one, sometimes, especially with braids. When I was in Palm Spring, CA a Native American woman gave me $20.00 because she thought my husband ran out on me and the three little boys on the restaurant bill, he didn’t have cash and went to the ATM. I told her he is coming back. I love the human race sometimes and sometimes not..
And Lazar, I have great hope for Obama, I’m so happy that he won. I’m for Obama…..Diplomat, I read a story about little girl and her father, the Diplomat when I was little.
CRC, did the sock at less look like a fox. The sock who thought he was a fox, well at least he smelled like one. “Tally Ho!” “The Hunt for the Fox Sock is on!”
Nice to see you in the land of Lincoln, I think he would be proud right now.
Thanks for the shout out to the Madonna students, we are fortunate to have some great ones and even more fortunate that you are sharing your knowledge with them.
I bet you were the only one who showed up covered in fur and I hope you had some doggie biscuits in case they caught you.
