The cosmic egg was a concept that Nichaolas Cage’s older brother, Christopher Coppola told to me. It’s original concept is traced to India. Painted on a dark green emu egg, The Cosmic Egg- Birth of Venus with hummmingbirds vine trumpets, planets, and stars is idea that the Universe was a cosmic egg which cracked open with a Big Bang.
In physical cosmology, the cosmological principle is an assumption, or working hypothesis, about the large scale structure of the cosmos, stating that:
On large spatial scales, the Universe is homogeneous and isotropic.
In more detail:
“ … all points in space ought to experience the same physical development, correlated in time in such a way that all points at a certain distance from an observer appear to be at the same stage of development. In that sense, all spatial conditions in the Universe must appear to be homogeneous and isotropic to an observer at all times in the future and in the past.[1] ”
The cosmological principle severely restricts the set of possible cosmological theories. The principle is consistent with the observed isotropy of the: (i) spatial distribution of galaxies, (ii) spatial distribution of radio sources, and (iii) cosmic microwave background radiation.[2][3]
In 1923, Alexander Friedmann set out a variant of Einstein’s equations of general relativity that describe the dynamics of a homogeneous isotropic universe. Friedmann’s theory was applied a few years later by Eddington and Lemaître.[4][5][6]
I always thought that the hummingbird and the flower were here just for our enjoyment. The red-headed gasped when I mentioned you and your brother, which was the reason I painted the Cosmic Egg. She wanted to know about the egg……..
Thanks CRC. I need to let this one simmer – As Arte Johnson used to say (with a German accent) on “Laugh-In” many moons ago, “Very interesting.” Those where the days.
Annapedia, you have some mind! Amazing how you retrieve info.
Anna, all a matter of opinion and belief…I never like to cause a stir… and so, while I am ‘sad’ & ‘proud’ at the same time,
I need to say…I am saddened by the slum dog story: innocent girl to be sold for 300.000 smackers.
Meanwhile on the flip: Priya requested me to sing an old Dean Martin song. So I fulfilled his request and sung “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime.” His family gathered around the computer screen. This kinda reminds me of the old days when people listened to their radio.
Anyhow, just being a good egg/friend:) That’s #1 priority now.
We need peace & love more than ever, especially for the children’s sake.
Exactly. The Cosmic Egg at first looks like a painting of hummingbirds and the birth of Venus, I alway thought the original painting was Eve, when I was a child, but when you look closer, I got a book, The Cosmos in a Nutshell, wish I had more time with the emu egg, but the planets were included plus Saturn could be a spaceship, it took a life of it’s own. The red-headed lady named Zozo, or something notice these things and asked me about the Cosmic Egg, but we were interupted by Doug, who told a story about another Venus.
One egg’s lower half transformed
And became the earth below,
And its upper half transmuted
And became the sky above;
From the yolk the sun was made,
Light of day to shine upon us;
From the white the moon was formed,
Light of night to gleam above us;
All the colored brighter bits
Rose to be the stars of heaven
This is a Finnish poem
And the darker crumbs changed into
Clouds and cloudlets in the sky.
Gould definitely was a brain in the world of biology and life sciences. Also very personable. His book 8 Little Piggies was good. I read it in college and the started reading a few more of his collected essays as time went on. It’s a good quote and he has tons more where that came from!

Funny how things turned out in the end. I guess you don’t need a glove on to get caught with your hand in the cookie jar.

Now the big question is finally answered.
Which came first? The chicken or the egg?
The Cosmic egg…
