I think there should be a globe involved. Old school, you know. The kind that spins on it’s axis. Now CRC, when you do your opening, you put a push pin in the location of the guest. I’m just thinkin it goes along with your Christopher R. Coppola Productions theme as “The Pirate Of The Coppola Family” look. It works Yes?
Byt then again. What do I know. I live on a mountain side!
Lookin forward to it. I’ll be here till the 30th. If not. Me and Brodda got a plan so I can hear l8ter, as the texters say.
    Be well,

    “LIVE!” Fantastic.

  5. CRC Says:

All you will need is any kind of phone that I can call.

  6. CRC Says:

    I like that idea, Barn.

  7. amy Says:

i love this idea, Christopher. when it happens it will be “right on time” as they say. (kairos over chronos)

as i mentioned, we used to be really into radio production. my husband and i used to do two call-in back to back live shows (about 3 straight hours) every sunday afternoon on a boston community radio station.

the first one was called “like humans do” (from the david byrne song – you can hear the song on this page from youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuY4FR-bmGY).

    “i’m aching, i’m breaking, i’m shaking… like humans do.”

on that show we discussed all things human. i love the idea of focusing on what we have in common rather than all of our differences.

every week we’d come up with a topic like “contemplating justice… like humans do.” or “kicking the cig… like humans do.” or “coping with stress… like humans do.” and so on. that was super fun and turned into kind of a “circus” (or a “human zoo” as some described it)

we called the other show “the working hour”(from an awesome tears for fears song – you can hear it on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73Nd9bgOOM4 )

“find out, find out, what this fear is about.”

“the working hour” was all about love relationships. looking for love, finding love, keeping love… sometimes we’d talk about the difficulty of sharing our lives as a new married couple. one time we had a lively discussion about what goes on at bachelor parties. another time we talked about what to do if your spouse chooses to dance with some attractive person at a party.

we’d get call-in questions and i had to do a LOT of quicksilver thinking and talking on the fly. that is the fun part – the improv. it’s a bit like teaching in a big classroom – there is a real excitement about going live and just winging it – trusting that you’ll be fine.

anyway, we had lots of people type in IM’s and also call. (a LOT of people felt more comfortable just tuning in online and typing IM’s while we talked, which gave us the added bonus of material to fall back on in case of a lull in the conversation.

i have to say, it was wild and fun and exciting. we really built up a nice little community through that outlet… friends we will have for life.

we made sure to listen to our fellow community radio show producers and interact with them as much as possible. we are really into supporting all kinds of community building media projects like this. (we were even awarded a grant for our station from boston college! that was really fun.)

so anyway, it’s late and i need to be sleeping but i just wanted to tell you that hearing about your project is super exciting to me! it’s right up my alley.

i am praying that all goes well for your radio show and i can’t wait to hear you and Doug shoot the breeze. :) PLEASE keep us posted so we can tune in and contribute in any way we are able!

    blessings and love,
    amy

p.s. since that “book” i just wrote on here is SO LONG and it’s up for moderation please feel free to just read it yourself and not post it— now that i see how long it is i would totally understand if you just left it off. i mainly am telling you, Christopher, since i have done this before, i thought you may want to hear what i did exactly. but i do not expect you to post the whole thing! please forgive me for ALL THESE WORDS! i can’t seem to stop typing!!! (i sometimes wonder what would happen if the speed of thought ever reached the speed of sound, or the speed of light… wow – what then??) mysteries. love them.

i’ll be on my way now – thanks for reading this. :)

thanks Doug for including me in your well wishes. you have a way of making each person feel special. plus, i love hearing your voice! it’s so familiar to me now it’s a little like “coming home.” we are very excited about your upcoming radio chat with Christopher!

hoping you are well and healing completely. much love to you and your family :)

    one more thing:
Anna, i really enjoyed that “12 days of Christmas” comment! i had never seen anything like that. it was very interesting. plus i am forever forgetting what goes with what day so to hear me muddle through it is kind of hilarious! (i just have to make stuff up to fill in the blanks. like “7 frogs a leaping” … heehe) so, thanks Anna! you’re a great teacher to us here. xoxo
