CRC BLOG RADIO SHOW RECAP #8 with BEN

BEN, one of the original followers of my personal blog, is a tough, but gracious cookie from Illinois–family comes first, everyone pitches in and, no matter what, don't mess with any member of her family…the lioness roars and takes care of business. Sorta reminds me of my 95 year old grandmother, the powerful matriarch of my mother's side of the family.

I gotta tell ya……most fairly young (at heart….ha ha ha) women would not like to be compared to a 95 year old woman but …..wow…….it’s a compliment to have been compared to your Grandmother. She is one heck of a spunky, spicey lady, even at her age. She reminds me of my mother who would have been 94 now and who has been passed six years this coming Monday. Me thinks the two of them would have gotten along great!

On a side note……a weird coincidink…..I almost fell off my chair the other day at work when I overheard the new assistant manager of the place where I work talking on the phone. I wasn’t listening into her conversation but all of a sudden I caught the word Stauton. She was saying that she was heading home to Stauton for the weekend (this weekend). When she got off the phone I said “excuse me….but I wasn’t…..but did I hear you correctly? You are from Stauton, IL?”. She said she was born and bred there! The world is a very small place indeed…..BTW….she said Stauton is about 50 miles south of Springfield, IL and 50 miles north of St Louis smack dab on I-55. From where you usually visit when in Chicago….Barrington area….it would probably take you about 5 1/2 hours to reach Stauton.

Anyway……thanks for sharing your Grandmother with us and um….hope you’re just a little bit shocked by the Stauton coincindink.

    Take care, Ben

Very nice! exceptional power to the people..

BEN, I wasn’t comparing you by age, but by character. I know I am 2o years older than you. Sorry about the confusion. I shared the Stauton coincindink and my grandmother laughed and liked it.

  4. AWNBen Says:

Um…..No……I think I’m older than you silly! I’m a 59er….If I were 20 years younger than you and my mom were to be 94 this year…..she would have been….what…..64? when she had me.

LOL! I know she was quite spicey but not that spicey! (God I miss her).

Anyhooo…..Glad to hear your Grandmother got a good laugh out of the Stauton coincindink……Does she have any relatives left in the area? If so I bet my co-worker probably knows em’.

thanks for posting the show. i have known bonnie for a while and was sorely disappointed that i didn’t catch it live. she has gotten me hooked on this blog. thanks for all your hard work, crc. i can’t wait to listen in….

okay, i should have watched the video first. duh. still, i love that i got a chance to see your grandmother. i met the coolest, most charismatic woman last weekend. she is about the same age as your grandmother. she walked into the room, and you could feel her pull. she ended up holding court surrounded by people all hanging on her every word. how can you not worhip at the altar of a lady who can quote ginsberg? she called me “hep”, which i never thought i would hear in this lifetime. probably the best compliment i have ever received.

  7. CRC Says:

It means something when someone who has been around that long calls you “hep.” You should be proud. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to hear an archived version of my chat with Bonnie shortly. Laz, will fill you in.
